Dental Implants
Westgate Dental Practice was one of the first practices in the North West to become involved with dental implants.
Dental Implantation
We have experience of all the major implant systems and undertake cases from single teeth to implant retained bridges carrying multiple teeth, as well as implant retained complete dentures.
As an A.D.I. implant mentor, Peter Leyland has been placing and restoring dental implants for the last 20 years and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Implantology (2009) and an Msc in Dental Implantology (2010).

Implant Referrals
All non implant work is referred back to the patient's General Practitioner.
Mr. Leyland uses all the major implant systems including Straumann, Ankyloss, biomet 3i, Astratech and Imtech.
What is the procedure?
1. Consultation Appointment
Once we have received your patient's details, they are contacted to arrange a consultation appointment. During their first visit we examine them thoroughly and discuss their hopes and expectations of what can be achieved with implant dentistry.
2. Examination
Photographs, study models and any necessary radiographs are taken at the practice. CT scans are also arranged at this visit as necessary. A report is then sent to the patient and the referring practitioner.
3. Implant Procedure & Review
The patient is seen for the implant placement and the following week for a review. The implant is left to integrate for a period before the restoration phase. Any other dental work is referred back to their referring dentist who can then also take over the monitoring of the implant and its maintenance.
Familiar with the implant process?
Practitioners who are familiar with the implant process may wish to restore the implants themselves. The consultation and surgical stage is then done at Westgate Dental Practice. The patient then returns to their own practitioner for their reconstruction.
